ADDICTED TO SPEED (Since Day One)
Nathan first got behind the wheel of a go-kart in October 2023, starting his karting journey later than many of his competitors. Despite this, he showed immediate promise, quickly picking up the skills and confidence needed to race at a competitive level.
He began in an Arrow kart, mentored by Mason Armstrong and Ryan Urban of Urban Performance, who guided him through those first laps and early race weekends. From there, Nathan moved with Urban Performance into their new brand, Energy Corse NZ.
Competing in Rotax Junior Max, Nathan faced a significant challenge — running 10kg over the class weight limit left him struggling to match rivals on pace despite strong driving. At just 14 years old, the decision was made to move him up into Rotax Max Light, a senior category, to create a more level playing field.
With Energy Corse, Nathan quickly adjusted to the tougher competition, racing in a field that included both up-and-coming juniors and seasoned senior drivers. In a short space of time, he went from a newcomer to a consistent competitor, showing he could hold his own against rivals with years more experience as well as those closer to his own age.
Karting remains a key part of Nathan’s journey today — sharpening his reflexes, refining his racecraft, and continuing to build the foundation that supports his progression in cars.
